Frequently Asked Questions About Porcelain Veneers: Kalispell Veneer Dentist

Thinking about getting cosmetic dental veneers? Still looking for a Kalispell porcelain veneer dentist? Here are some of the most common FAQ our cosmetic dentist hears each day:

What do dental veneers correct?

Cosmetic veneers are designed to mask the appearance of chipped enamel, surface stains, misshaped teeth, small gaps, and crooked teeth. Our Kalispell cosmetic dentist will discuss the exact shape and contour you want to achieve.

How much do dental veneers cost?

The cost of your veneers case will depend on how many dental veneers you need and the type of veneer you’re choosing. We can provide you with a no-fuss price quote at the time of your consultation.

Which is better: dental crowns, bonding, or veneers?

Dental crowns are best for protecting structurally damaged or decayed teeth. Bonding works well if you have a small surface flaw on one or two teeth, but it’s not as durable as a crown or veneer. Porcelain veneers provide strength and optimal aesthetics, without altering your entire tooth.

Can I whiten my veneers later on?

No. Veneers maintain their color from year to year. If you want the adjacent or opposing teeth to be whiter, we recommend bleaching your teeth prior to your veneer treatment.

How many dental veneers will I need?

The number of veneers you need will depend on the width of your smile and how many teeth are visible. Most people only get 6-8 veneers across their upper front teeth. However, there are case-by-case situations where 10 or more veneers may be recommended.

How long do veneers last?

Most porcelain veneers will last between 10-15 years as long as you care for them properly. Plenty of people have their original veneers even longer. We recommend flossing daily and wearing a protective nightguard when you’re sleeping, to prevent any chipping or wear.

What types of dental veneers are available?

The most popular types of dental veneers are porcelain, composite (chairside,) and no-prep (such as Lumineers.) Porcelain veneers offer the best durability and translucent coloration for an optimal cosmetic outcome. However, no-prep veneers offer a reversible option that works well when your tooth anatomy allows for a slightly denser overlay.

Does it hurt to get dental veneers?

The porcelain veneers process is a relatively minimally-invasive treatment compared to procedures like dental fillings or crowns. However, we frequently utilize numbing medication to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. You’ll also wear a set of temporary veneers between your prep visit and the final placement to avoid sensitivity (unless you’re getting no-prep veneers!)

Are dental veneers right for me?

The ideal cosmetic veneers candidate will have healthy teeth and gums (no active decay or periodontal disease) and the treatment is designed for adults.
